The Millennium Stadium roof jump.

I spent most of the afternoon making trips to and from the local helipad, trying to deliver stock and pick up ground-to-air communications. Pete Dadds, the photographer who shot the National Theatre handstand in Jump London, was in position on the roof to do the official press photos and I got back from my third visit to the helipad just in time to miss Sebastien’s jump. I’m sure I am the only person who is grateful that there was a slip-up and the jump had to be repeated as otherwise I wouldn’t have got this shot on Sebastien’s second attempt.

I’d been chatting to Pete about how he was going to shoot it – a composition of two landscape shots – and went for something different so that our results wouldn’t be too similar. Being slightly right of centre, I stayed with my wide angle lens and turned the camera slightly. Pete’s shot was stunning and I was equally pleased with my effort, especially as I was rushed, out of breath and couldn’t convince my camera to switch to burst mode and had to get my timing spot on with a single shot.
