Adrian (camera assistant) learns some geology during a quiet moment at the Giants Causeway.
Filming at Giants Causeway was a surreal experience, even moreso for Nial (production manager) and Dominic (producer)
who first arrived there at 5.30am. Had the budget and schedule been less of a factor, the weather would have defeated
most film crews; the north coast of Ireland on an autumn morning does not promise good conditions and there was a
dogged determination to get the job done.
Most people envision a film crew working for Channel 4 as having unlimited access to everywhere. The reality
was that tourists were still free to roam and our work there could not interfere with the site’s visitors and trade.
With Julian absent, Clem was in charge of all safety aspects – no easy task on a wet, slippery, windy, cold morning
with curious Americans, bus loads of school kids and confused onlookers milling about.
